Step back! Give yourself space.
Sometimes when you are too close to a situation, when you are the proverbial chook with no head, you just can’t see the woods for the trees. When you are having difficulty seeing beyond what’s right in front of you, it’s time to step back and give yourself some space. When you are overwhelmed or too close to a problem or a situation,
- You cannot see beyond the problem
- You cannot see all the possibilities
- You cannot be unbiased because you are “in it”.
Stress, fear and frustration can create mayhem and uncertainty. The only way to gain a different perspective is to step back and view the situation from a different angle.
- Take a walk
- Read a book
- Listen to music
- Sit down on the beach
- Talk to a friend who is not involved.
Do anything that will give you a break and have you see things from a different perspective.
Giving yourself space means giving yourself the time and freedom to clear your mind, try out new things and work on areas in your life that seem stubborn. Giving yourself space is not running away. Giving yourself space, can ultimately help you gain clarity.
