INTERESTED OR COMMITTED

20 Jun

So many people say they want to do things differently.  So many people say they want to change something in their career, in their relationships with family or friends, within their businesses or within themselves.  Then what follows very quickly in their conversations, are all the reasons why they can’t!

Whether people take the first step to change or do something different centers around how strong their commitment is to the change and how committed they are to the results they can achieve.

Thinking about the difference between being interested and being committed – 365days sprung to mind.

I have been interested in creating 365days for a while now, it has been a thought floating around in my head for years.  And what had it become a reality was when I made the commitment to do it, to stop making excuses!   The difference came when I committed to taking action and then committed myself to a certain day to go live.  I am now not just interested in updating 365days, I have committed (quite publicly), to updating 365days, each and every day with a new quote, visual and thought.

The key differences I see between being interested and being committed are:

  • Interest is reactive.  Commitment is proactive.
  • Interest means give attention to, be curious, think about.  Commitment means dedication, persistence and focus.
  • Interested people can’t see the wood for the trees.  Committed people have a clear picture of what they want and why they want it.
  • Interested people debate the pros and the cons continually. Committed people make no excuses.
  • Interested people talk the talk.  Committed people walk the talk
  • Committed people do whatever it takes, no matter what.

So if you want to change something or do something different, ask yourself how badly do you want it?

Are you interested in change or are you committed to change?  Your answer will be the key to you taking action or not.  Your answer will be the key to your success.

Spark your interest, then commit to success … daily!
